French-Moroccan photographer Leila Alaoui died after being wounded in Ouagadogou siege

Working on assignment for Amnesty International,she was fatally injured during an  attack on an international hotel in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso, on Friday.
Leila Alaoui, the 33-year-old French-Moroccan photographer, died last night as a result of injuries sustained during Friday’s  terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.
Alaoui was working on assignment on women’s rights issues for Amnesty International.Ms. Alaoui, whose work has been displayed around the world, was described as one of the most promising photographers of her generation by Jean-Luc Monterosso, director of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris.
“There was an internal light that illuminated both her and her work,” he said. “There is a documentary rigor in her work, but also a rare artistic sensibility.”
Alaoui was seriously injured when militant gunmen affiliated to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb  stormed the Splendid Hotel and the Cappuccino restaurant in Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso, West Africa.
